her name was written on a photograph

i'd like to introduce you to a new addition to my collection, my new baby, the cannon 500d. an (and only) 18th birthday present from my parents.

and while she is very shiny and new and exciting, that's not what i'm posting about. studs. they're the new zips. studded jackets, studded shoes, anything with studs i'm feeling right now, in the glam underground style that's taking over our high street

take this jacket worn by emily blunt in one of my favourite films at the moment, wild target. this jacket is gorgeous and if i hadn't spent so much on my last jacket i would quite happily customise it to look like this. i find cropped jackets to be a bit hit and miss as i always feel i look like i'm wearing clothes four sizes too small, but the high waist of this skirt means that it compliments the jacket and highers the waist. but not all of us are emily blunt and have amazing stylists, so here are my picks of high street studded items for you to buy and accessorise yourself.

- moto vintage wash sparkle stud hotpants £75 Topshop - vectra studded slippers £28 Topshop - stud bag £24 fcuk by ASOS - paprika halterneck studded panel dress £32 Paprika by ASOS - studded belt £19.99 river island by ASOS - stud court shoe £40 ASOS - light brown studded cross body bag £29.99 river island - studded biker jacker £250 Warehouse-

can't afford to buy a studded piece yourself? no problem, diy studding is more fun anyway, i found this studding tutorial by fashion blogger samantha (beauty-crush) who, by the way has amazing style and has a sleek makeup giveaway on at the moment so you must must check out her blog!

and here's my attempt at studding, my parents for birthday also gave me their second hand camera case. it's very large with room for a second lense, and lots of pockets for filters and accesories. i can't wait to get out and about with it now that i am officially an art student!

there ain't no rest for the wicked

so i'll admit it, my posts recently have been very research heavy, and i'll admit that is because for the last few months my head has been full of the life of stars and renaissance composers. and then when my a-levels were finnaly done, it was time to put up my final exhibition for my textiles, my first gig, and then the most awaited event of the year, my leaver's prom. and i guess i haven't really introduced myself either. so here i am:

monsoon, silver pendant from accessorize annd hair bands from new look [sale]
micah's tux rented from austin reed.

i have to admit that this tradition we have borrowed from our cousins overseas, unlike others...supersizing and teen dramas with no plots are just some to name, but prom night is quite special, it's the one night other than our wedding nights when we're truly allowed to look and feel like princesses, and i'm not going to argue with that! i mean just look at some of the girls from my year:

don't they all look lovely? but that's not the only thing that's happened this month for me, it was also my a-level graduate show, very exciting! it marks the end of a very long era for me, my last public event at my secondary school, somewhere i've been for seven long years! so here are some snaps of the work displayed.

this may seem an odd thing, but at my school, tradition is a very important idea, so the annual graduate show, or showcase is a way for prospective young designers get the chance to show their work. it also builds the confidence of those who model, as the older students showing work ask younger students to model it. it's very cool and very important to maintaining a life-long tradition.

after this i had a bit of a rest and then my 18th birthday, here are a few photos of me and my family
